[Bulldog] [Vent] Rocky, 10, had a seizure. Sharing my experience.Dog Talks

Just wanted to share my experience, forgive the length but hopefully this will help someone, somewhere with their doggo: My English Bulldog Rocky (10/neutered/male) was sleeping soundly this past weekend when he got up from his bed, let out a hairball cough (not unusual for him) and collapsed face-first on the floor. My wife and I of course freaked and ran to him, propping him up. His eyes were wide open, mouth fully closed. It looked like he wasn't breathing. As soon as I put my hands on his chest to check for his lungs and heartbeat, he rolled himself over on his back and shook his front paws for a moment and rolled back over until he finally drew a breath, got up and shook it off. He started walking around normally. What seemed like a lifetime took about 8-10 seconds. Out of an abundance of caution we rushed him to the e-room. They hooked him up, checked his vitals and BP and all was OK. He honestly was acting like nothing happened, even on the car ride over and the on-staff d

[fluff][vent] Currently having a standoff with my dog of who will give in first...Dog Talks

So sweet sweet Eleanor (Ellie, Eleanor Smelleanor, etc) has decided she no longer wants her kibble. She just... doesn't like kibble at all actually. The vet has given her a perfect bill of health and decided she just must be picky? she's a 2yo, 50lbs GSD/Aussie mix. She was ruined by my trying to fancy up the kibble to get her to eat it. Each bribe would work a little until she, being the whip smarty pants that she is, caught on to the fact that IT WAS THE SAME OLD KIBBLE UNDERNEATH. I have read time and time again that with dogs like this, you just have to have a standoff. A healthy dog will not starve itself, it just needs to learn that bowl down = meal time. HOWEVER... this is a lot more easily said than done... especially when you have a partner who is, to put it nicely a TOTAL SUCKER. Given that she is healthy, I'm over this little tantrum. We are currently on hour 2 of the standoff, and I plan to keep you all updated on how long this lasts. I predict that in two h

[help] my dog died screaming in pain and my heart is being torn apart.Dog Talks

[] Today a few hours ago my baby passed on. We dont know what happened. He fell sick three days ago. Then yesterday he started throwing up green bile and blood. He didn’t eat for 3days straight and thats what his vet advised.(no water or food only ringers lactate) The vet only did a blood test and said that my puppy had an ulcer and a severe infection .gave him an iv and sent him back. Yesterday nightwhen i was sitting with him while he was on iv he seemed so sick.it crossed my mind that he might leave us soon. But not in the way he did. This morning he was surprisingly better. Was sitting up and even went on a walk though still lethargic and sick. After an hour i think he started moving towards any corner he could find.we let him be because he seemed agitated because of the iv tube in his leg i think. After like 2 mins i see him dragging his back legs and moving towards the door .we immediately run to him and he keeps dragging himself away from us and throwing up green bile and blood

[Vent] Please be mindful about spreading misinformation about the rescue processDog Talks

I'd like to preface by saying that I have a breeder dog because I wanted a very specific breed and wanted a puppy I could train from the get go. I own this and I don't need to justify it. As much as I wanted to rescue a dog, I am not suited for it and do not have the patience to do it justice. I'm a breeder's assistant and something's been bugging me for a while. I've noticed a lot of people that come to us feel the need to justify that they tried really hard to rescue a dog, but rescues wouldn't approve their applications and automatically reject them because they weren't married, lived in an apartment, didn't have a yard etc. etc. etc. When I ask most of these people a bit more on how they tried to rescue, most people just submit blind applications online, get rejected, get disheartened because the application took a few hours, and then just apply for a breeder. Many of them hadn't even checked their local humane societies/ASPCA/SPCAs, or gon
