German Shepherd x Belgian Shepherd mix. This is our own bred dog 'Ozzy' out of our Malinois female 'Ava' and our German Shepherd 'Amigo' both from European Working bloodlines, with many Trials champions going back many generations. As owners we had decided that we liked the idea of larger bodied Malinois for our security/protection work knowing that in general the Mali's tend to be more lightweight, that = agility and speed, but in the UK they have not, until recent years been, recognisable as a guarding breed by the general public. That recognisability is an important part of the 'Deterrent' factor when patrolling on sites/premises. So in the past when purchasing or breeding Belgian Malinois we have always looked at size as well as all the normal markers when getting a new working dog. 'Ava' is a larger Mali' and 'Amigo' a medium to large GSD, so their offspring was a mix of both as you might expect, of the ei...

are malinois smart Belgian Shepherd Malinois - Awesome dog are malinois smart When asked this question I often have to stifle a chuckle, I know I shouldn't but I often do, why? well because I know from that initial question I have to seriously judge the person asking it. The Belgian Malinois is one of the most intelligent dog breeds there is. Look around at who has them!...I mean... take a look!... But in all honesty I would suggest that the Malinois was perhaps not the best dog breed for them to look at owning and that more research was needed on their part. What breed of dog would you recommend for Protection or Security work? is another often asked question, my answer is usually... If you wanted something a little more 'Hardcore' and genetically sound than the old favourite the German Shepherd, then I could not recommend t...

Belgian Malinois Ava This is my Female Belgian Malinois Ava. At this date 2/7/2019 she is 7 .5 years old and is a trained Protection /Security dog, but as we have both retired from operational duties she lives at home with me and my family and 3 other dogs. She has been neutered and after her last litter we decided to have her done, this was about 4 years ago. We thought long and hard about it and decided that as we have 2 entire males living at home we would have both our 'girls' done, reducing both the risk of unplanned pregnancies and reducing the mess. One of the results of neutering is a tendency towards being overweight in both females and males, this has been exaggerated in Ava's case as she has also retired from being very active ( my fault entirely ) so as she has got older I have had to monitor her weight gain more than normal, we all suffer from this I guess. But as far as any pre conceived ideas I had about her scarring I am absolutely del...
