My Belgian Shepherd Malinois, AVA
Belgian Malinois Ava
This is my Female Belgian Malinois Ava.
At this date 2/7/2019 she is 7 .5 years old and is a trained Protection /Security dog, but as we have both retired from operational duties she lives at home with me and my family and 3 other dogs.
She has been neutered and after her last litter we decided to have her done, this was about 4 years ago.
We thought long and hard about it and decided that as we have 2 entire males living at home we would have both our 'girls' done, reducing both the risk of unplanned pregnancies and reducing the mess.
One of the results of neutering is a tendency towards being overweight in both females and males, this has been exaggerated in Ava's case as she has also retired from being very active ( my fault entirely ) so as she has got older I have had to monitor her weight gain more than normal, we all suffer from this I guess.
But as far as any pre conceived ideas I had about her scarring I am absolutely delighted with the results, ( I will leave 2 links to show the difference from post op to a few months after the op on both Ava and my Staffie, Amber to show how it looks and now its impossible to see any scars. )
Part 1
Part 2
So if you are worried about the physical looks to any neutering scars,if you use a qualified
and recommended veterinarian then there should be no problems, however please think about the reasons why you should undertake this operation as any major surgical procedure is not without risk.
Ava now lives a quieter life with her son, Ozzy, a GSD x Malinois mix, our Staffordshire Bull Terrier Amber and English Springer Spaniel, Archie, if that can be called quieter!!!
