[HELP] My Dog Waits for Her Dead Owner to Come HomeDog Talks
Hello, I haven't been on reddit for a while, so I apologize in advanced if this has already been discussed before.
Me and my mom had our toy poodle since I was in the seventh grade, but she's a lot more attached to my mother than she is with me (understandably so). I'm in my twenties now, and my mother has passed last September; however, every night when it's time for bed, my dog would always want to sit in the living room. This is what she does when she waits for my mom when she'd be late coming home from work. She doesn't really know that her owner is gone.
Her behavior is still normal. She hasn't shown any symptoms of depression yet, and she still is as playful and active as ever. I'm worried that once she realizes that my mom isn't coming back, what will become of her, y'know?
For right now, I'm trying to spend a lot of time with my dog i.e taking her to the park, keeping her active overall, and lots and l o t s of cuddles.
I'm also doing my own research on this topic (and she has a vet checkup soon), but I'd love to hear similar experiences and tips on how to keep my dog's mental health from going into a decline, and if she does, what are somethings that helped you and your pets?
