[Discussion] My thanks to whomever suggested clipping one nail a day in exchange for a special treat at the same significant time of the day, every day... that was a brilliant tip, highly recommend.Dog Talks

Our pup wasn't afraid of the nail clippers, but she surely didn't like to have her nails done either, and so they tended get left longer than ideal.

We did have "wait" (to get the treat from where I left it until after the trick) and "shake" already trained, so this method wasn't a huge leap for us.

It's only been a few weeks, but she already knows whats up when I get treat from that particular jar after a walk, and she'll be sitting in the living room waving her "shake" paw at me before I can get there. I usually have to ask for a different paw, because that paw always has every nail well trimmed, but that's fine. The back paws are a bit awkward, but we manage. Sometimes I have to look at couple paws to find a nail worth trimming at all, and it's usually just a little nibble of a clip now.

She waits patiently for the sound of the clip, then dives for her treat. I suppose ideally I could have her wait, maybe try to do a second one, but w/e. All her nails are staying short, and without any stress for either of us.

Highly recommend. Thank you again whoever posted this tip a few weeks ago.
