[Help] Do you express your dog’s anal glands? I have a senior who needs it frequently. https://ift.tt/eA8V8J Today we heard her crying at the vet as they expressed them. We waited too long and it broke my heart. We learned she needs her anal glands expressed every 3 WEEKS. It was a month since her last time and the vet tech said they were very full and painful. That’s eye opening to us since we had (have) two younger large dogs before we got her. They have never had an anal gland issue. We have the money and time to take her to the vet every 3 weeks but the internet is saying to do it ourselves. Is there a danger to that? Might we miss something or do it incorrectly? My husband is a medical professional and is willing to learn how to do it correctly. We just wanted to be cautious and hear all sides before trying to do something like that on our own. My little girl means the WHOLE WORLD to me and I am willing to pay for a professional to do it if y’all think we should. Disclaimer: I’m sorry for ALL of the questions. We adopted our senior knowing we were inexperienced. We were/are very willing to learn and do what was needed. She desperately needed a home and we wanted to help. I love her more than anything. :) She takes so much care of me too. dogs balcony-gardener
